NS-8A Fault Code 43 Spark Control Circuit

Complete No Start Test 6, Step A before proceeding.

1. With diagnostic read-out tool connected to the engine test connector, turn the ignition switch to the Off position.
2. Disconnect the ignition coil wire at distributor and place it near a good engine ground so there is 1/4 inch gap.
3. Disconnect the 60-way connector from the SMEC and connect one end of a jumper wire to terminal No. 34.
4. Turn the ignition switch On and press and hold the ATM button on the read-out tool.
5. Touch the other end of jumper to a good ground. Make and break this connection several times while looking at the ignition coil wire.
6. If there is spark at the ignition coil wire as you make and break the connection, check the terminal in terminal No. 34 of the 60-way connector to make sure it is not damaged causing a poor connection. If connector is good, replace the SMEC.
7. If there is no spark at the ignition coil wire as you make and break the connection, proceed to Step B.
