NS-12 Checking System For Fault Codes

Complete No Start Test 1, Step C before proceeding.

1. With diagnostic read-out tool connected to the engine test connector, erase fault codes.
2. Crank the engine for 7 seconds, then turn the ignition switch to the Run position for 5 seconds before turning Off.
3. Put the system in the Diagnostic Mode and record all codes.
4. If code sequence 88-12-55, no fault codes is indicated, check dark green/black wire of auto shutdown relay for an open circuit.
5. If no code 88 or 00, system power circuits, proceed to Test 13.
6. If code sequence is 88-11-12-55, distributor pickup circuit fault is present. Proceed to Test 14.
7. If code sequence is 88-12-42-55, auto shutdown relay pull in coil circuit fault is present. Proceed to Test 15.
8. If code sequence is 88-12-44-55, fused J2, proceed to Test 16.
9. If code sequence is 88-12-14-22-24-55, or 88-12-14-22-23-24-55, the wire in terminal No. 4 of the engine control module 60-way connector must be repaired for an open circuit.
