Fuel Pump Relay: Testing and Inspection
Fuel Pump Control Relay:
1. Disconnect and remove the fuel control relay, and connect a negative battery jumper lead to terminal 4 of the relay. Connect a positive jumper lead from the battery to terminal 6 of the relay.
2. Check for continuity between terminals 1 and 7 with the battery power energized. Continuity should be indicated. Remove the battery jumper leads.
3. With power disconnected check for continuity between terminals 2 and 5, and between 2 and 3. There should be no continuity.
4. With power disconnected check for continuity between terminals 6 and 4. Continuity should be indicated.
5. Connect the battery negative jumper lead to terminal 4 of the relay. Connect the positive battery jumper lead to terminal 8 of the relay.
6. With power connected check for continuity between terminals 3 and 7. Continuity should be indicated.
7. Disconnect the battery jumper leads, and check for continuity between terminals 3 and 7, and between terminals 4 and 8. No continuity should be indicated.
8. With power disconnected check for continuity between terminals 4 and 8. Continuity should be indicated.
9. If the results of any of the above tests are unsatisfactory replace the relay.
