1. Remove breather, then the distributor cap retaining screw, Fig. 21.
2. Remove distributor cap, then the contact carbon.
3. Remove rotor retaining screw, then the governor spring.
4. Remove governor weight snap rings, then the governor weights.
5. Remove governor plate retaining bolts, then the governor plates.
6. Remove governor base and signal rotor assembly.
7. Remove pickup coil retaining screw, then the pickup coil.
8. Remove igniter, then the vacuum controller retaining screw.
9. Remove stator, plate retaining screw and plate from distributor shaft.
10. Mark location of driven gear on distributor shaft, then place driven gear on a suitable wooden block to facilitate removal of spring pin, Fig. 15. Remove spring pin, then the speedometer driven gear.
11. Remove O-ring and washer from bottom of housing, then the distributor shaft with bearing.
12. Remove oil seal from housing.
13. Using a suitable ohmmeter, measure resistance of pickup coil. Resistance should be 920-1,120 ohms.

ASSEMBLY
1. Reverse procedures to assemble, noting the following:
a. Install driven gear into distributor shaft, aligning mating marks made during disassembly, then install new pin.
b. Align punch mark on driven gear with mating mark on housing. Ensure notched portion of shaft end is positioned as shown, Fig. 22.
c. When installing stator, ensure no iron filings or iron pieces are attached to stator.
d. After installing governor assembly, rotate governor assembly to ensure projection of signal rotor does not touch stator.
