ADJUSTMENT CONDITION: Lights, electric cooling fan and all accessories are off and transaxle in neutral.
1. Run the cold engine at fast idle until the cooling water temperature is raised to 85 to 95°C (185 to 205°F).
2. Run the engine for more than 5 seconds at the engine speed of 2,000 to 3,000 rpm.
3. Run the engine at idle for 2 minutes.
4. Using a tachometer, read idling speed. If outside the specified limits, (500 to 800 rpm for the first 300 miles or 600 to 800 rpm after 300 miles) readjust the speed to the nominal specification using the idle speed adjusting screw Fig. 1, No. 1 (SAS-1).
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH SAS-2 Fig. 2. The idle speed adjusting screw (SAS-2) is the preset screw that determines the relationship between the throttle valve and free lever, and has been accurately set at the factory. If this setting is disturbed, throttle opener adjustment and dash pot adjustment cannot be done accurately.
