A. Verify Choke Shim Presence

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly and plug the vacuum tee.





2. Using a mirror and flashlight, verify the presence of a shim in the choke linkage between the wax element plunger and the choke adjustment screw. An orange band should be visible (Figure 1).

3. ^ If the choke shim is present, proceed to Section C.

^ If the choke shim is missing, install one as described in the following Section B.
