The transaxle oil pan drain plug has been eliminated on the 1983 KM 170 transaxle. Use the following procedure when it is necessary to drain the transaxle fluid.

NOTE: THE DRAIN PLUG FOR THE DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN RETAINED.

1. Remove the drain plug from the transaxle differential section.

NOTE: When reinstalling the plug, remove metallic particles from the magnet.

2. Remove all of the oil pan bolts except the opposite corner bolts. Remove the remaining bolts while holding the pan in place. Carefully remove the pan allowing oil to drain.

CAUTION: THE PAN COULD SUDDENLY DROP CAUSING OIL TO SPLASH.

3. Reinstall pan and fill per the appropriate service manual instructions.
