If rusting occurs on subject model vehicle cargo boxes, use the following procedures for repair.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Surface Rust at Side Panel Joints and Rear Gate Panel Joints
1. Remove any loose or poorly applied sealer.
2. Remove rust using rubbing compound.
3. Clean all compound from area using a non-petroleum base cleaner.

4. Cover panel joint and flange with body sealer.
NOTE: FOR EASIER APPLICATION, MARK A NOTCH AT OUTLET OF THE TUBE AND WORK WITH THIS NOTCH APPLIED TO FLANGE (FIGURE 1)...
5. While squeezing the tube evenly, run the tube along the joint (flange) to apply sealer.
Run the tube at a uniform speed and coat as long a length as possible at a stroke. (Application in repeated short strokes results in irregularly finished seal surface.)

6. After the sealer has dried apply strips of masking tape on either side of sealer (Figure 2).
7. Using a small paint brush, carefully paint the sealer and repair area with the appropriate vehicle color. (Some vehicles may require two coats for proper coverage.)
Heavy Rust at Side Panel Joints, Rear Gate Panel Joints at Floor and Header Board Top Section
1. Remove any loose or poorly applied sealer.
2. Remove all rust using grinding disc or emery paper.
3. Clean repair area using a non-petroleum base cleaner.
4. Apply primer surfacer to repair area.

5. Cover panel joint and flange with body sealer.
