Key Interlock

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper and the lower steering column cover panels.

Important: Be careful when removing the key interlock solenoid. There is a plunger with spring attached that can become easily lost.

3. Disconnect the key interlock solenoid electrical connector and remove the key interlock solenoid screws and the key interlock solenoid.





4. Remove the driver side knee bolster.
5. Remove the relay box securing nuts and pull the relay box out from under the instrument panel to access the key interlock unit.





6. Remove the key interlock unit.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the key interlock unit.





2. Install the nuts securing the relay box to the instrument panel.
Tighten
Tighten the relay box securing nuts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm)





3. Place the spring and the plunger on the key interlock solenoid.





4. Install the key interlock solenoid and the solenoid screws.
Tighten
Tighten the key interlock solenoid screws to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm)
5. Install the upper and the lower steering column cover panels.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
