Campaign - A/C Switch Button Removal

Product Update Inspection

Subject:
2000 Nubira A/C Switch

Date: January 7, 2000

Number: PU-017-99-Revised

2000 Nubira SE 4-Door models are now available without factory Air Conditioning. Dealer installed Air Conditioning Kits will be available in the next few weeks.

To alleviate any confusion concerning the presence of Air Conditioning in a non Air Conditioning equipped Nubira, Daewoo requests that the A/C Switch Button be removed from the HVAC Control Panel in the Nubira models in your inventory not currently equipped with Air Conditioning. HVAC Control Panel Switch Blanks will be provided for these vehicles at no charge.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this important matter.

A/C Switch Button Removal Procedure

1. Using a drill motor, mark and carefully drill a 1/8 inch diameter hole in the upper center of the A/C Switch Button.

Caution:
Wrap the drill bit with tape so that only 1/8 inch of the drill bit is allowed to protrude into the A/C Switch Button. If the drill bit is allowed to travel more than 1/8 inch into the A/C Switch Button, the switch illumination bulb behind the button could be damaged.

2. Using an angled pick tool, insert the angled tip into the hole and firmly pull the A/C Switch Button out of the HVAC Control Panel.

3. With the ignition on and the fan in the "1" position, ensure that the A/C Indicator Light above the A/C Switch Button is not illuminated. If the light is illuminated, depress the A/C Switch located in the button recess with your pick tool until the A/C Indicator is not illuminated.

4. With the alignment rib facing upward, press a HVAC Control Panel Switch Blank into the hole until it is fully seated. Insure that the blank is depressed to a depth even with the Recirculation Button.

5. Ensure that the A/C Indicator is not illuminated.
