ABS Light Relay: Service and Repair
LAMP DRIVER MODULEThe lamp driver module is taped to the Antilock Brake System (ABS) wiring harness between the heater/air distributor case and the firewall.
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the right-side kick panel.
3. Remove the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) from its mounting bracket.
4. Remove the EBCM mounting bracket.
5. If the green-colored lamp driver housing is taped to the harness in an area behind the sheetmetal, cut the tie strap that fastens the wire harness near the EBCM so that the wire harness can be pulled enough toward the passenger compartment to gain access to the lamp driver housing.
6. Untape the green-colored lamp driver housing from the Antilock Brake System (ABS) wiring harness.
7. Open the lamp driver module cover.
8. Remove the module from the housing. If necessary, insert the blade of a screwdriver into the slot near the end of the circuitboard, and use the screwdriver as a lever to free the circuitboard from its connector inside the housing.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the lamp driver module into the housing. Press the card into the connector inside the module, and close the cover. Be sure to orient the card the same as the card you removed. There is a slot that serves as a keyway to allow entry one way only. Look into the housing to see where the slot has to be.
2. Secure the lamp driver module to the Antilock Brake System (ABS) harness with electrical tape.
3. If the tie strap for the wire harness was cut during the removal procedure, use a new tie strap to prevent movement of the wire harness.
4. Install the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) mounting bracket.
5. Install the EBCM.
6. Install the right-side kick panel.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
