Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement (LY7) (3.6L)

Removal Procedure




1. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the heater inlet and outlet pipes. Refer to Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement (LNJ) (Service and Repair) and Heater Outlet Pipe Replacement (RPO LY7) (Service and Repair)Heater Outlet Pipe Replacement (RPO LNJ) (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the thermostat housing bolts (1).
4. Remove the housing.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the thermostat housing bolts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
2. Install the heater inlet and outlet pipes. Refer to Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement (LNJ) (Service and Repair) and Heater Outlet Pipe Replacement (RPO LY7) (Service and Repair)Heater Outlet Pipe Replacement (RPO LNJ) (Service and Repair).
3. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ GE 47716 Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LNJ Static Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (LY7 Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
