Sliding Door Stationary Window Replacement
Tools Required
* J 24402-A Glass Sealant Cold Knife Remover
* J 39032 Stationary Glass Removal Tool
* Urethane Adhesive Kit GM P/N 12346392 or Equivalent
* Isopropyl Alcohol or Equivalent
* Cartridge-Type Caulking Gun
* Commercial-Type Utility Knife
* Razor Blade Scraper
* Suction Cups
* Plastic Paddle
Removal Procedure
1. Remove either the 40A, RH or LH power sliding door fuse from the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block in order to disable the power at the power sliding door motor.
Caution: If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.
Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces on the exterior door surface.
2. Open the sliding door.
3. Remove the sliding door garnish molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Garnish Molding Replacement ().
Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.
Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.
This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
4. If the original reveal molding on the window is damaged it must be replaced, if equipped.
* Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
* The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
* UseJ 24402-A,J 39032 or equivalent in order to remove the window.
5. With the aid of an assistant, remove the window (2) from the sliding door.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the stationary window (2) into the opening. Refer to Adhesive Installation of Bodyside Stationary Windows (Adhesive Installation of Bodyside Stationary Windows).
2. Install the sliding door garnish molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Garnish Molding Replacement ().
3. Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces (1).
4. Vent the front door windows until the sliding door window urethane has cured.
5. Install either the 40A, RH or LH power sliding door fuse to the I/P fuse block in order to enable the power to the power sliding door motor.
6. Perform the re-initialization procedure. Refer to Rear Side Door Actuator Control Module Programming and Setup (Programming and Relearning).
7. Close the sliding door.
