Exhaust Pipe/Muffler Hanger: Service and Repair



Exhaust System Insulator, Hanger, Bracket Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the exhaust insulators (1) from the exhaust system (2) and the hanger bracket(s) as required.




3. Remove the exhaust hanger bolts (2) and hanger (1), if required.




4. Remove the catalytic converter hanger bolts and hanger, if required.




5. Remove the tail pipe hanger bolts and hanger, if required.




6. Remove the tail pipe hanger bolts and hanger, if required.

Installation Procedure





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

1. Install the tail pipe hanger and bolts, if required.

Tighten the bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).




2. Install the tail pipe hanger and bolts, if required.

Tighten the bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).




3. Install the catalytic converter hanger and bolts, if required.

Tighten the bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).




4. Install the exhaust system hanger (1) and bolts (2), if required.

Tighten the bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).




5. Install the exhaust insulators (1) to the exhaust system (2) and the hanger bracket(s) as required.
6. Lower the vehicle.
