Engine Front Cover Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LZ9) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Service and Repair)
2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the camshaft position actuator magnet. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the engine front cover bolts.
9. Remove the engine front cover.
10. Remove the engine front cover gasket.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the engine front cover gasket to the engine block.
2. Install the engine front cover.
Important: Apply sealer to the shaded bolts (1) in the graphic. Failure to do so may result in engine coolant leakage from the bolt holes passing through the water jacket.
3. Install the engine front cover bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
4. Install the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Install the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the camshaft position actuator magnet. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement (Service and Repair).
10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LZ9) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Service and Repair).
