Power Sliding Door (PSD) Opens with Transaxle Out of Park

Diagnostic Instructions

* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category

Circuit/System Description

As a safety feature, the power sliding door module (PSDM) monitors the park/neutral position park signal from the body control module (BCM). This prevents the opening of the power sliding door in all gear selections other than Park. If the power sliding door is open or in the process of closing when shifted out of Park (P), a chime will sound. This is a warning that the sliding door is not completely closed. Also, the driver information center (DIC) will indicate if the door is open.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, transaxle in Park, unlock all doors and command the appropriate power sliding door to open by pressing the appropriate open/close switch on the overhead console multifunction switch. The appropriate power sliding door should open as commanded.
2. Place foot on brake and shift transaxle out of Park, command the appropriate power sliding door to open by pressing the appropriate open/close switch on the overhead console multifunction switch. The appropriate power sliding door should not open.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Shift the transaxle into Drive, verify the scan tool Vehicle in Park parameter is No.

If not the specified value, test the park/neutral position park signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground or short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

2. If all circuits test normal, replace the appropriate PSDM.
