Headlining Trim Panel Replacement

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

1. Remove the windshield garnish moldings.
2. Remove the front door opening weatherstrips.
3. Remove the sunshades.
4. If equipped, remove the DVD player.
5. Remove the overhead console mounting bracket.
6. Remove the dome lamp.
7. Remove the rear cargo lamps.
8. Remove the headliner trim finishing molding.
9. Remove the upper pillar garnish molding.
10. Remove the body side rear upper garnish molding.
11. If equipped with rear HVAC, remove the auxiliary upper air distribution duct.
12. Remove the rear corner upper garnish molding.
13. Remove the liftgate weatherstrip.




14. Use J 38778 in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
15. Push the headliner forward in order to release the locking tab at the front overhead console.
16. Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the headliner to the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
2. Align the locking tab at the front overhead console.
3. Push the headliner rearwards in order to lock the headliner into place.




4. Install the rear headliner push-in retainers.
5. Install the liftgate weatherstrip.
6. Install the rear corner upper garnish molding.
7. Install the body side rear upper garnish molding.
8. Install the upper pillar garnish molding.
9. If removed, install the auxiliary upper air distribution duct.
10. Install the headliner trim finishing molding.
11. Install the rear cargo lamps.
12. Install the dome lamp.
13. Install the overhead console mounting bracket.
14. If removed, install the DVD player.
15. Install the sunshades.
16. Install the front door opening weatherstrips.
17. Install the windshield garnish moldings.
