Battery Service Disconnect Switch Replacement (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2)
Caution: To help avoid personal injury, disable the 36V system anytime you perform service work on or around the generator battery carrier. The 36V system will still be active after you have disabled the generator battery carrier.
Caution: To help avoid personal injury, always disconnect the 36V generator battery carrier before doing any work to the generator battery carrier system. To disconnect the generator battery carrier, turn the engine off and turn OFF the service disconnect switch, which is located on the passenger side of the generator battery carrier.
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the generator battery carrier intermediate cover.
2. Disconnect the battery service disconnect switch electrical connector (3).
3. Remove the battery service disconnect switch nuts (2).
4. Remove the battery service disconnect switch (1).
Installation Procedure
Important: A NEW battery service disconnect switch comes in the open position for safety concerns. The service part will need to be closed with a scan tool after the part has been installed.
1. Install the battery service disconnect switch (1).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
2. Install the battery service disconnect switch nuts (3).
Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
3. Connect the battery service disconnect switch electrical connector (3).
4. If a NEW switch was installed, use a scan tool and command the battery service disconnect switch to the closed position.
5. Install the generator battery carrier intermediate cover.
