Sliding Door Latch: Service and Repair
Latch Replacement - Door
Removal Procedure
Important: By removing the power sliding door (PSD) 15A fuse, the low current logic power for both the LH and RH power sliding door modules (PSDM) will be interrupted and both PSDs will be inoperative.
1. If equipped with a power sliding door, disable the PSD system by removing the PSD 15A fuse from the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block.
2. Remove the sliding door inner trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door () .
3. Remove the sliding door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Sliding Door () .
4. Remove the sliding door latch screws.
5. Remove the sliding door latch from the sliding door.
6. When the sliding door latch is loose, unhook the latch/lock rod form the sliding door latch.
Installation Procedure
1. Hook the latch/lock rod to the sliding door latch.
2. Install the sliding door latch to the sliding door.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the sliding door latch screws in sequence, as shown.
Tighten the screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
4. Ensure the rear latch lock rod is secured into the latch rod insulator.
5. Install the sliding door water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Sliding Door () .
6. Install the sliding door inner trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door () .
Important: By installing the 15A fuse, the low current logic power will be restored to both the LH and RH PSDMs and the PSDs will be operational. However, both PSDMs will have to learn the full open and full closed positions of the PSD. Refer to Acutator Control Module - Power Sliding Door (PSD) Programming and Setup.
7. If equipped with a power sliding door, enable the PSD system by installing the PSD 15A fuse into the I/P fuse block.
