Front Door Hinge: Service and Repair



Hinge Replacement - Door

Removal Procedure


Important: In order to minimize door realignment, do not remove both hinges at the same time. Replace the broken door hinge first.


1. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
2. Remove the front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.
3. Remove the front fender. Refer to Fender Replacement - Front (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.




4. Mark the location of the door hinge on the door and on the hinge pillar.
5. Support the door.




6. Remove the bolts securing the door hinge to the hinge pillar.




7. Remove the bolts securing the door hinge to the door.
8. Remove the door hinge.



Installation Procedure





1. Position the door hinge to the marks on the door.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts attaching the door hinge to the door.

Tighten the door hinge to door bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





3. Position the door hinge to the marks on the door pillar.
4. Install the bolts attaching the door hinge to the hinge pillar.

Tighten the door hinge to hinge pillar bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Remove the door support and inspect the alignment of the door, realign if required. Refer to Door Adjustment (Adjustments) .
6. Install the front fender. Refer to Fender Replacement - Front (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.
7. Install the front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front (Service and Repair) in Body Front End.
8. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
