32. Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection

Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection
1. Clean the flexplate in solvent.

2. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in Service Precautions.

Dry the flexplate with compressed air.





3. Inspect the flexplate for the following conditions:
^ Stress cracks around the flexplate-to-torque converter mounting bolt hole locations (1) and/or flexplate-to-crankshaft (2, 3)

^ Important: Do not attempt to repair the welded areas that retain the ring gear to the flexplate plate. Install a new flexplate.

^ Damaged or missing ring gear teeth (5)
