Right Front

SEAT BELT RETRACTOR REPLACEMENT - RIGHT FRONT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 29843-9 Door Lock Striker and Seat Belt TORX(R) Wrench

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The front passenger's seat belt assembly attaches to the body side frame locking center pillar.




1. Remove the plastic cover (2) from the shoulder belt guide.
2. Remove the upper guide loop anchor nut.
3. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
4. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
5. Remove the plastic escutcheon (3) where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits the center pillar.




6. Use the J 29843-9 in order to remove the bolt (3) from the seat belt retractor (2).
7. Remove the seat belt retractor from the center pillar (1).
8. Remove the 2 nuts securing the front seat to the floor.
9. Remove the 2 nuts securing the front seat to the floor.




10. Raise the rear of the seat in order to remove the retractor anchor bracket (5) from the seat stud (4).
11. Remove the push on the retainers (6) from the seat stud (4).
12. Remove the retractor side belt (1) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the retractor side belt (1) to the vehicle.
2. Install the retractor anchor bracket (5) to the rear seat stud (4).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the nuts securing the lower anchor bracket to the floor.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).




4. Install the seat belt retractor (2) to the center pillar (1).
5. Use the J 29843-9 in order to install the retractor bolt (3).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).




6. Install the plastic escutcheon (3) into the center pillar where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits.
7. Install the center pillar lower trim panels.
8. Install the center pillar upper trim panels.
9. Install the nut securing the upper guide loop anchor (2) to the center pillar.

Tighten
Tighten the anchor nut to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

10. Install the plastic shoulder belt guide cover to the adjuster bracket (2).
