SEAT BELT RETRACTOR REPLACEMENT - LEFT FRONTTOOLS REQUIRED
J 29843-9 Door Lock Striker and Seat Belt TORX(R) Wrench
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: The driver's front seat belt assembly attaches to the body side frame locking B-pillar.
1. Remove the shoulder belt guide plastic cover (2).
2. Remove the anchor nut from the seat belt upper guide loop.
3. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
4. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
5. Remove the plastic escutcheon (3) where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits B-pillar trim.
6. Use the J 29843-9 in order to remove the bolt (3) from the seat belt retractor (2).
7. Remove the seat belt retractor from the B-pillar (1).
8. Remove the 2 nuts securing the front seat to the floor.
9. Remove the 2 nuts securing the front seat to the floor.
10. Raise the rear of the seat in order to remove the seat belt anchor bracket (5) from the seat stud (4).
11. Remove the push-on the retainer (6) from the seat stud (4).
12. Remove the retractor side belt (1) from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the retractor side belt (1) to the vehicle.
2. Install the seat belt anchor bracket (5) to the seat stud (4).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the nuts securing the seat belt (1) lower anchor bracket to the floor.
Tighten
Tighten the anchor nuts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
4. Install the seat belt retractor (2) to the B-pillar (1).
5. Use the J 29843-9 in order to install the retractor bolt (3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
6. Install the plastic escutcheon (3) into the B-pillar trim where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits.
7. Install the center pillar lower trim panels.
8. Install the center pillar upper trim panels
9. Install the nut securing the upper guide loop anchor (2) to the B-pillar.
Tighten
Tighten the anchor nut to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).
10. Install the shoulder belt guide cover to the adjuster bracket (2).
