Wiper Arm Replacement (Driver Side)



WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT (DRIVER SIDE)

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39637 Wiper Arm Puller

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Open and support the hood.
2. Disconnect the washer hose from the front washer pump hose (5).
3. Remove the wiper arm nut cover (3).
4. Remove the wiper arm nut (4).




5. Using the J 39637, remove the wiper arm from the wiper drive system module.




6. Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm connection.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the wiper blade onto the wiper arm.
2. Position the wiper arm onto the wiper arm pivot shaft. Align the wiper blade tip to the horizontal mark on the windshield.
3. Measure the distance from the wiper blade tip to the solid edge of the windshield blackout. Position the wiper arms at the following distances:
- Passenger Side - 123 mm (4.84 in) below the glass solid blackout (a)
- Driver Side - 153 mm (6.02 in) above the glass solid blackout (b)

IMPORTANT: Hold the measuring device at 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the wiper blade tip.





4. Install the wiper arm nut (4).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: Hold the wiper arm into position (1) while tightening the nut.

Tighten the nut to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).

5. Install the wiper arm nut cover (3)
6. Connect the washer nozzle hose to the washer pump hose (5).
7. Close the hood.
8. Inspect the wipers for proper operation.
