Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head.
2. Install the bolt for the oil level indicator tube bracket. Tighten the bolt to 21 Nm (15 lb ft).
3. Install the exhaust manifold.
4. Install the exhaust manifold bolts/nuts.
5. Using the sequence shown, properly tighten the exhaust manifold bolts. Tighten the bolt/nuts to 38 Nm (28 lb ft).
6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts. Tighten the bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb in).
