Instrument Panel (IP) - Carrier Replacement



Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.
2. Adjust the shift lever to FIRST position.
3. Lower the convertible top.
4. Tilt the steering wheel to a full down position.
5. Remove the left and right sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Sunshade Replacement) in Interior Trim.
6. Remove the left and right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer toGarnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
7. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper. Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Upper
8. Remove the left and right I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Left (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Left) and Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Right) .
9. Remove the passenger I/P inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
10. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Replacement - Left) .
11. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Right (Knee Bolster Replacement - Right) .
12. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left) .
13. Remove the center I/P trim panel. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replace - Console Compartment Door (Lock Cylinder Replace - Console Compartment Door) .
14. Remove the I/P upper trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper.
15. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
16. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
17. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation.




18. Remove the 9 fasteners retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P carrier support.
19. Remove the I/P carrier assembly from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Position the I/P carrier assembly to the I/P structure.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the 9 fasteners that retain the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.

Tighten the fasteners to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

3. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation.
4. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
5. Install the IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement.
6. Install the I/P upper trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper.
7. Install the center I/P trim panel. Refer to Lock Cylinder Replace - Console Compartment Door (Lock Cylinder Replace - Console Compartment Door) .
8. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement - Left) .
9. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Right (Knee Bolster Replacement - Right) .
10. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left (Knee Bolster Replacement - Left) .
11. Install the passenger I/P inflatable restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
12. Install the left and right I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Left (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Left) and Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Right (Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Right) .
13. Install the I/P upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper. Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Panel Replacement - Upper
14. Install the left and right windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer toGarnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar) in Interior Trim.
15. Install the left and right sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement (Sunshade Replacement) in Interior Trim.
16. Adjust the shift lever to the PARK position.
17. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
18. Close the convertible top.
