Transfer Case Adapter Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: This service procedure is for vehicle equipped with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ONLY. Vehicle equipped with manual transmissions are NOT equipped with a transfer case adapters.





1. Remove the transfer case assembly.
2. Use a suitable transmission jack stand, support the automatic transmission.





3. Remove the transfer case adapter mounting bolts.
4. Remove the transfer case adapter from the transmission.
5. Remove the transfer case adapter seal.





6. Remove the transfer case gasket.

Installation Procedure





1. Important: Do not reuse the old gasket if it is damaged, replaced it. Do not use any type of sealer in place of the gasket.

Install the new transfer case adapter seal.
2. Install the transfer adapter to the transmission.

3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the transfer case adapter mounting bolts to the transmission.
^ Tighten the transfer case adapter mounting bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the new transfer case gasket.





5. Install the transfer case assembly.
