Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair

Cooling Fan Motor Replacement - Electric

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Electric Coolant Fan Caution in Service Precautions.

Caution: Refer to Damaged Fan Blade Caution in Service Precautions.

Important: If abnormal noise or vibration is felt from the engine compartment, inspect and clean any foreign material from the cooling fan blades.





1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly.

Important: Turn the cooling fan nut clockwise to loosen.

3. Remove the cooling fan nut
4. Remove the cooling fan from the shroud.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cooling fan motor.





6. Remove the screws from the cooling fan motor.
7. Remove the cooling fan motor.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the cooling fan motor.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the screws to the cooling fan motor.
^ Tighten the screws to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





3. Connect the electrical connector to the cooling fan motor.
4. Install the cooling fan to the shroud.

Important: Turn the cooling fan nut counterclockwise to tighten.

5. Install the cooling fan nut.
^ Tighten the nut to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
6. Install the cooling fan and shroud assembly.
