Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments
ACCELERATOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT1. Start the engine.
2. Run the engine to normal operating temperature.
3. Inspect that the engine idle speed is 625-725 RPM. If the idle speed is not 625-725 RPM, refer to Minimum Idle Speed Inspection/Adjustment.
4. With the throttle valve closed, measure the accelerator pedal free play (1). The accelerator pedal free play clearance is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in). If the pedal free play is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in), go to Step 9.
5. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut (3).
6. Turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut (2) in order to obtain 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in) of accelerator pedal free play.
7. Tighten the accelerator cable locknut (3).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the locknut to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).
8. Repeat Step 4 through Step 8 until the accelerator pedal free play is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).
9. With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, measure the clearance (2) between the throttle lever (3) and the throttle stop (1). The accelerator cable end play clearance is 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in).
10. Adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in) of accelerator cable end play.
