EGR Tube: Service and Repair

EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) PIPE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Allow the engine to cool down.
2. Remove the two fasteners attaching the EGR pipe (5) to the underside of the intake collector (1).
3. Remove the two fasteners attaching the EGR pipe (5) to the bank 2 exhaust manifold (4).
4. Remove the upper gasket (2) and the lower gasket (3).
5. Remove the fastener to the EGR pipe bracket.
6. Remove the EGR pipe (5).
7. Clean any remaining gasket material from both contact surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the EGR pipe (5) with a new upper gasket (2) to the intake collector (1).
2. Secure the EGR pipe (5) to the intake collector (1) with the 2 fasteners.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

3. Install the EGR pipe (5) with a new gasket (3) to the exhaust manifold (4).
4. Secure the EGR pipe (5) to the exhaust manifold with the 2 fasteners.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
5. Install the fastener to the EGR pipe bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

6. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
7. Repair as necessary.
