Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - Lower Left

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the upper left valve rocker arm cover.
2. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

3. Important:
Do not drop the injector harness bolts in the cylinder head oil return ports.

Remove the injector harness bracket bolts for both injector harnesses.
4. Loosen the encapsulated injector wire terminal nuts on each injector.
5. Remove the injector harnesses.





6. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts.
7. Remove the lower valve rocker arm cover.
8. Remove the gasket from the lower valve rocker arm cover.
9. Inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket for damage, replace if necessary. Otherwise reuse the old gasket.
10. If required, clean and inspect the lower valve rocker arm cover.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover gasket.
2. Install the lower valve rocker arm cover.






3. Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the lower valve rocker arm cover bolts. Start with bolts 1 and 2, they are used to position the cover. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
^ Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





4. Install the injector harnesses.
5. Install the injector harness bracket bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
6. Tighten the encapsulated injector wire terminal nuts on each injector.
^ Tighten the nuts to 2 Nm (17 inch lbs.).
7. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
8. Install the upper left valve rocker arm cover.
