^ Park Lamps Stay On All The Time

These conditions may occur intermittently and diagnosis may find various DTCs set.

Cause

The cause of these conditions may be the main IP wire harness chaffing in the engine compartment or under the instrument panel.

Correction

There are two areas where wire chaffing may occur. Follow the procedures below to determine which repair is needed.

1. Inspect the main IP wire harness next to the brake booster in the engine compartment. If the harness is improperly routed, chaffing may occur against the # 7 cylinder ignition coil mounting bracket stud as the engine moves on its mounts. If wire chaffing is found, follow published wire repair procedures in SI and replace the ignition coil mounting bracket stud with a bolt or cut off the top portion of the stud using a hack saw to gain clearance between the engine and the wire harness.

2. Inspect the main IP wire harness under the left side of the instrument panel starting where the harness passes through the cowl near the brake pedal assembly. The harness may come in contact with IP brackets and chaffing may occur as the vehicle goes over bumps. If wire chaffing is found, follow published wire repair procedures in SI and tie strap the harness out of the way so it does not contact the sharp edges of the IP brackets. Tape or a piece of conduit can be added to the IP bracket edge to provide further protection.
