Folding Top Panel Replacement - Rear

Removal Procedure


Caution: When servicing any part of the folding top, ensure hands are clear of the folding top side rails while the folding top is in motion. Serious personal injury can occur if caution is not used.

1. Cycle the folding top stowage compartment lid open.
2. Stop the cycle after the folding top panel has unlatched from the windshield header.
3. Place a protective covering over the interior of the vehicle and the adjacent body panels.
4. Remove the front headliner. Refer to Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the side headliners. Refer to Retractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
6. Remove the center headliner. Refer to Retractable Roof Headliner Rear Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Rear Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.




7. Using a grease pencil or suitable marking device, mark the location of the folding top rear panel upper fasteners to the side rail for alignment. Also mark the side rail to the top rear panel for alignment.




8. Using a grease pencil or suitable marking device, mark the location of the folding top rear panel lower fasteners to the side rail for alignment.
9. Disconnect the rear window heater grid electrical connectors.




10. With the aid of an assistant, remove the folding top rear panel fasteners.




11. With the aid of an assistant, remove the folding top rear panel from the vehicle.



Disassembly Procedure

1. Remove the folding top panel to the panel striker from the folding top rear panel. Refer to Folding Top Strikers Replacement - Rear Upper (Folding Top Strikers Replacement - Rear Upper) .
2. Remove the rear window from the folding top rear panel. Refer to Folding Top Rear Window Replacement.



Assembly Procedure

1. Install the rear window into the folding top rear panel. Refer to Folding Top Rear Window Replacement.
2. Install the folding top panel to the panel striker. Refer to Folding Top Strikers Replacement - Rear Upper (Folding Top Strikers Replacement - Rear Upper) .



Installation Procedure





1. With the aid of an assistant, install the folding top rear panel onto the side rails.
2. With the aid of an assistant, install the folding top rear panel fasteners. Hand tighten the fasteners.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Align the fasteners to the alignment marks on the side rails.

Tighten the fasteners to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Cycle the folding top to latch the front panel to the windshield header.
5. Verify that the folding top rear panel is properly aligned.
6. Adjust the folding top rear panel, if necessary. Refer to Folding Top Panel Adjustment - Rear (Folding Top Panel Adjustment - Rear) .
7. Cycle the folding top open to release the front panel from the windshield header.
8. Install the center headliner. Refer to Retractable Roof Headliner Rear Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Rear Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
9. Install the side headliners. Refer to Retractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
10. Install the front headliner. Refer to Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
11. Remove the protective covering.
12. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation.
