Convertible Top Motor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Place the folding top in the open position.
CAUTION:
- Refer to Eye Protection Caution in Service Precautions.
- Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Pressure Caution in Service Precautions.
- Refer to Servicing Electrical Components Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Open the stowage compartment lid.
3. Locate the hydraulic pump in the storage compartment area.
4. Disconnect the battery.
5. Place a protective cover over the rear compartment interior and the adjacent body panels.
6. Remove the body accessory compartment.
7. Remove the folding top pump noise covers.
8. Remove the four electrical connectors from the hydraulic pump solenoids as follows:
- (1) Connector C4 Green to solenoid valve 4 with red/green and pink leads
- (2) Connector C3 Orange to solenoid valve 3 with light blue and pink leads
- (3) Solenoid Valve 1
- (4) Connector C1 Green to solenoid valve 1 with white and pink leads
- (5) Connector C2 Blue to Solenoid valve 2 with dark blue and pink leads
- (6) Folding top pump with motor
9. Remove the electrical connector from the hydraulic pump.
10. Remove the nuts from the hydraulic pump bracket.
11. Lift the pump up and out of the storage compartment and set the pump on the protective covering.
12. Remove the reservoir filler plug (1).
13. Remove the bolts from the pump manifold plate.
14. Disengage the cylinder hoses by pulling straight up on the hoses.
15. Carefully lift up on the manifold plate (1).
16. Remove the hoses by pulling the hoses straight up from the pump. Use a clean shop towel to control any hydraulic fluid leakage.
17. Remove the hydraulic pump from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Align the manifold plate bolt holes to the pump. This will ensure that the cylinder hoses are placed in the correct port.
2. Align the cylinder hoses into each port and push down until the hoses are seated properly in the hydraulic pump manifold.
3. Install the manifold plate bolts. DO NOT tighten.
4. Push down on the manifold plate (1) and verify that all of the cylinder hoses are seated properly.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Note in Service Precautions.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (88 lb in).
5. Install the reservoir filler plug (1).
6. Position the hydraulic pump to the correct mounting location.
7. Install the hydraulic pump bracket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
8. Install the electrical connector to the hydraulic pump.
9. Install the four electrical connectors to the hydraulic pump solenoids as follows:
- (1) Connector C4 Green to solenoid valve 4 with red/green and pink leads
- (2) Connector C3 Orange to solenoid valve 3 with light blue and pink leads
- (3) Solenoid Valve 1
- (4) Connector C1 Green to solenoid valve 1 with white and pink leads
- (5) Connector C2 Blue to Solenoid valve 2 with dark blue and pink leads
- (6) Folding top pump with motor
10. Add fluid as needed. Refer to Power Folding Top - Adding Fluid.
11. Install the body accessory compartment.
12. Remove the protective covering.
13. Connect the battery.
14. Close the stowage compartment lid.
15. Bleed the hydraulic system.
16. Inspect the hydraulic system for fluid leaks.
17. Inspect the hydraulic system fluid level and add fluid as needed.
18. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
