Endgate Replacement



Endgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Lower the endgate.
3. Remove the endgate liner. Refer to Rear Compartment Endgate Liner Replacement (Rear Compartment Endgate Liner Replacement) .




4. Remove the endgate access panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Endgate Access Panel Replacement (Rear Compartment Endgate Access Panel Replacement) .




5. Disconnect the high mounted stop lamp electrical connector.
6. Remove the high mounted stop lamp harness from the endgate.
7. Mark the location of the endgate fasteners to the endgate with a grease pencil or suitable marking device.
8. Support the endgate.




9. With the endgate supported remove the endgate support cable fasteners from the endgate.




10. Remove the endgate fasteners.




11. With the aid of an assistant, remove the endgate from the endgate hinges by sliding the endgate to the rear of the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. With the aid of an assistant, install the endgate onto the hinges.




2. Install the endgate fasteners. Hand tighten only.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Align the location of the endgate fasteners to alignment marks on the endgate.

Tighten the fasteners to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





4. Install the endgate support cable fasteners.

Tighten the endgate support cable fasteners to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

5. Install the high mounted stop lamp harness into the endgate.




6. Connect the high mounted stop lamp electrical connector to the high mounted stop lamp.




7. Install the endgate access panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Endgate Access Panel Replacement (Rear Compartment Endgate Access Panel Replacement) .
8. Install the endgate liner. Refer to Rear Compartment Endgate Liner Replacement (Rear Compartment Endgate Liner Replacement) .
9. Close the rear compartment lid.
10. Close the endgate.
