Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement - On Vehicle

Tools Required
* J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller
* J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

Removal Procedure




1. Position the front wheels straight ahead.
2. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position and remove the key.
3. Remove the horn pad assembly. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle Service and Repair.
4. Remove the nut retainer clip (9) from the steering shaft.
5. Mark the steering wheel shaft (5) and the steering wheel (1) in order to allow installation in the same position as when removed.




6. Remove the steering wheel using J 1859-A . Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement Steering Wheel Replacement.




7. Remove and dispose the bearing retainer (1) using the J 23653-SIR .




8. Remove the steering shaft spacer (1).
9. Remove the turn signal cancel cam (2).
10. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).

Assembly Procedure




1. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
2. Lubricate and install the turn signal cancel cam (2).
3. Install the steering shaft spacer (1).




4. Install the new bearing retainer using J 23653-SIR .




5. Align the marks which were made during the removal procedure and Install the steering wheel (1).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Install the steering wheel shaft nut (4).

Tighten the steering wheel shaft nut to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).

7. Install the nut retainer clip (9) onto the steering shaft.




8. Install the horn pad assembly (3). Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle Service and Repair.
