Intake Air Heater (IAH) Relay Replacement (California)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: The intake air heater (IAH) relay is not pan of the glow plug relay on California Emissions vehicles.




1. Remove the negative battery cables.
2. Loosen the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.
3. Remove the upper intake manifold cover from the outlet duct.
4. Remove the upper intake manifold cover.




5. Disconnect the engine harness connector (2).
6. Disconnect the intake air heater (IAH) relay harness connector (3)




7. Remove the battery supply harness connector nut and harness connector (3) from the IAH relay (2).
8. Disconnect the intake air heater (IAH) supply harness connector nut and connectors (4)from the relay (2).
9. Remove the IAH relay mounting nuts (5) from the mounting studs.
10. Remove the intake air heater Relay.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the intake air heater (IAH) relay on the mounting studs.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the intake air heater relay mounting nuts (5).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

3. Install the IAH supply wiring harness connector (4) and nut on the IAH relay (2)

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

4. Install the battery supply wiring harness connector (3) and nut on the IAH relay (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




5. Connect the IAH relay harness connector (3).
6. Connect the engine harness connector (2).




7. Install the upper intake manifold cover.
8. Install the upper intake manifold cover to the outlet duct.
9. Tighten the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

10. Install the negative battery cables.
