Axle Shaft Oil Seal Replacement-Right

^ Tools Required
- J26941 Knuckle Seal Remover
- J23907 Slide Hammer
- J37770 Axle Shaft Oil Seal Installer
- J8092 Driver Handle

Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the right front axle drive shaft from the vehicle.





3. Use the following steps in order to remove the right drive axle shaft oil seal (1) from the front axle housing (2):
3.1. Install the J26941 into the tight drive axle shaft oil seal (1).
3.2. Tighten the thumb screw on the J26941 in order to ensure that the J26941 has a firm grasp on the right drive axle shaft oil seal.
3.3. Attach the J23907 into the J26941.
3.4. Gently tap the right drive axle shaft oil seal (1) out of the front axle housing (2).

4. Inspect the right drive axle shaft surface at the point where the right drive axle shaft oil seal contacts the shaft surface. Inspect the shaft surface for the following conditions:
^ Scoring
^ Burrs
Replace the shaft if the surface displays the above conditions.

Installation Procedure

Important: The right and left axle shaft oil seals are designed to be installed into the front axle housing at different depths. The J37770 is 2-sided and is stamped with the letters R and L to ensure the correct axle shaft oil seal installation.





1. Install the new right drive axle shaft oil seal (1) into the front axle housing (2) using the J37770 with the J8092.
2. Install the right drive axle shaft into the vehicle.
3. Lower the vehicle.
