Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement (Left)
Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - LeftRemoval Procedure
1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Remove the PCV valve and hose assembly from the valve rocker arm cover and the intake manifold.
3. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature /e1m(ECT)/e0m gauge sensor electrical connector.
4. Remove the ECT gauge sensor connector from the bracket.
5. Remove the spark plug wires for the left side of the engine from the distributor cap.
6. Remove the rear spark plug wire harness retainer from the EGR valve inlet pipe bracket.
7. Remove the auxiliary evaporator tube from the A/C compressor, if equipped.
8. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
9. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets.
10. Discard the valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets.
11. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
12. Remove the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
13. Discard the valve rocker arm cover gasket.
14. Clean all sealing surfaces and the valve rocker arm cover.
Installation Procedure
Important: Do not reuse the valve cover gasket or the valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets.
1. Install the NEW valve rocker arm cover gasket into the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
2. Install the NEW valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets into the valve rocker arm cover.
3. Install the valve rocker arm cover onto the cylinder head.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
^ Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
5. Install the auxiliary evaporator tube to the A/C compressor, if equipped.
6. Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap.
7. Install the rear spark plug wire harness retainer to the EGR valve inlet pipe bracket.
8. Install the ECT gauge sensor electrical connector to the bracket.
9. Connect the ECT gauge sensor electrical connector.
10. Install the PCV valve and hose assembly in the valve rocker arm cover and to the intake manifold.
11. Install the engine cover.
