Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right (6.5L)Removal Procedure
1. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle.
2. Raise the vehicle enough to remove the right front wheel to gain access to the glow plugs.
3. Remove the splash shields from the frame to the wheel housing.
4. Remove the right exhaust pipe clamp from the exhaust pipe to the turbocharger.
5. Remove the right exhaust pipe clamp from the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
6. Remove the right exhaust pipe.
Important: To remove the glow plugs from number 2 and 4 cylinders, you may have to remove them through the wheel well.
7. Remove the glow plugs from the cylinder head.
8. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
9. Remove the exhaust manifolds bolts from the cylinder head.
10. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.
11. Inspect and clean the sealing surfaces on the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold.
Important: In order to ensure heat shield clearance, locate the exhaust pipe clamps as shown.
4. Slide the exhaust clamps over the exhaust manifold and turbocharger.
5. Place the clamps in the correct position as shown.
6. Tighten the clamps at the exhaust manifold.
^ Tighten the clamps to 10 Nm (90 inch lbs.).
7. Install the glow plugs in the cylinder head.
8. Install the splash shields from the frame to the wheel housing.
9. Install the right front wheel (if removed).
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Install the engine cover in the vehicle.
