Steps 42-81
42. Install the accelerator cable to the engine cable bracket.43. Install the accelerator cable to the throttle body lever.
44. Install atherosclerotic cable to the cable routing bracket.
45. Install the radiator inlet hose.
46. Install the radiator outlet hose.
47. Install the engine cooling fan.
48. Install the drive belt.
49. Install the upper and lower radiator shrouds.
50. Align the hinge clip with the lip on the throttle body.
Install the air inlet tube and resonator to the throttle body by pivoting the air inlet tube and resonator downward until the mounting stud is through the hole in the air inlet tube.
51. Install the resonator retaining wing nut.
52. Connect the PCV hose to the air cleaner outlet duct.
53. Connect the MAF/IAT sensor assembly harness connector.
54. Move the hood hinge bolts from the service position (2) to the normal operating position (1).
55. Raise the vehicle.
56. Install the remaining transmission to engine bolts except for the one where the transmission cover mounts.
57. Install the torque convertor to flywheel bolts, if equipped.
58. Install the transmission cover and bolts.
58.1. Tighten the transmission cover to oil pan bolt to 47 Nm (34 ft. lbs.).
58.2. Tighten the transmission cover to transmission bolt to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
59. Install the bolt holding the bracket for the starter cables and the transmission cooler pipes, if equipped.
- Tighten the bracket bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
60. Install the bolts holding the positive and negative battery cable brackets to the oil pan,
- Tighten the bracket bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
61. Install the bolt for the battery negative cable (1) and ground wire (1) to the front of the engine.
- Tighten the battery negative cable and ground wire bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
62. Connect the CKP sensor (2) and install the harness in the retainer.
63. Connect the low oil level sensor (3) and install the wire harness in the retainer.
64. Install the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifolds and tighten the nuts at the catalytic converter flange.
65. Install the starter motor.
66. Install the oil pan skid plate (RWD shown).
- Tighten the oil pan skid plate bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
67. Install the engine shield.
68. Lower the vehicle.
69. Connect the battery negative cable.
70. Fill the engine with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil.
71. Add engine oil supplement GM P/N 1052367 or equivalent to the engine oil.
72. Fill the engine with coolant.
73. Recharge the A/C system.
74. With the ignition OFF or disconnected, crank the engine several times. Listen for any unusual noises or evidence that any of the parts are binding.
75. Start the engine and listen for unusual noises.
76. Check the vehicle oil pressure gauge or light and confirm that the engine has acceptable oil pressure.
If necessary, install an oil pressure gauge and measure the engine oil pressure.
77. Operate the engine at about 1,000 RPM until the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
78. Listen for improperly adjusted or sticking valves, sticking valve lifters, or other unusual noises.
79. Inspect for oil and/or coolant leaks while the engine is operating.
80. Verify that the distributor is properly positioned.
81. Perform a final inspection for the proper engine oil and coolant levels.
