Wiper Arm Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position.
2. Set wiper switch to the PULSE position.
3. Turn the ignition off when the wiper arms are in the inner wipe position and not moving.
4. Disconnect the washer hose from the washer nozzle.
5. Remove the cover from the nut.
6. Remove the nut from the wiper transmission drive shaft.
7. Remove the wiper arm from the wiper transmission drive shaft with a battery terminal puller.
8. Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm.
9. Clean the knurls of the wiper transmission drive shaft with a wire brush.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the wiper blade onto the wiper arm.
2. Install the wiper arm onto the wiper transmission drive shaft.
IMPORTANT: Hold the measuring device at 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the wiper blade tip.
3. Measure the distance from the wiper blade tip to the solid edge of the windshield blackout. Position the wiper arms at the following distances:
^ LH - 147 mm (5.79 in) above the glass blackout.
^ RH - 123 mm (4.84 in) below the glass blackout.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the nut onto the wiper transmission drive shaft.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 48 N.m (35 lb ft).
5. Install the cover on the nut.
IMPORTANT: Lubricate the washer hose with the windshield washer solvent to ease installation on the washer nozzle.
6. Install the washer hose on the washer nozzle.
7. Operate the wipers and check for proper operation.
