Oil Pump Drive Shaft: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper) or Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower).
2. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipe from the fuel injector rail. Refer to Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement (Engine Compartment) (Engine pipes) in Computers and Controls.
3. Remove the oil pump drive clamp bolt.
4. Remove the oil pump drive clamp.
5. Remove the oil pump drive.
Installation Procedure
1. Apply prelube GM P/N 1052365 or the equivalent to the oil pump drive gear.
2. Apply engine oil to the oil pump drive gear assembly for ease of assembly.
3. Install the oil pump drive gear assembly.
4. Install the oil pump drive gear clamp.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the oil pump drive gear clamp bolt.
^ Tighten the oil pump drive gear clamp bolt to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
6. Connect the fuel feed and return pipe to the fuel injector rail. Refer to Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement (Engine Compartment) (Engine pipes) in Computers and Controls.
7. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper) or Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower).
