Steering Gear Boot Inspection





Inspect the boot (3) for cracks and damage which could indicate any of the following conditions:
- Rusty steering gear components
- Entry of dust into the steering gear
- Lack of grease on the steering gear components

If the steering gear boot is cracked or damaged, replace the boot. Refer to Rack and Pinion Boot Replacement-On Vehicle.
Inspect the steering rack boot for dents or improper folds. If found, compress the boot for several seconds in order to correct the folds.
