Engine Oil Dip Stick - Dip Stick Tube: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the oil level indicator from the guide tube.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.





3. Remove the upper radiator hose (2) from the thermostat housing.





4. Remove the four fan nuts (1).
5. Remove the four radiator shroud fasteners.

Important: Do not damage the radiator when removing the fan.

6. Lean the shroud toward the engine.
7. Detach the fan from the pulley hub and remove the shroud and fan together.





8. Loosen the generator adjustment bolt (1).
9. Remove the generator drive belt.
10. Remove the coolant pump pulley.





11. Remove the two bolts (2) from the cylinder block.





12. Remove the guide tube (1) from the oil pump body.

Installation Procedure





1. Coat the new guide tube seal (2) with engine oil.





2. Install the guide tube into the oil pump body.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Secure the guide tube to the cylinder block with two bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the oil level indicator to the guide tube.





5. install the coolant pump pulley on to the coolant pump.
6. Install the generator drive belt.

Important: Do not damage the radiator when installing the fan and fan shroud.

7. Install the fan and the fan shroud together.
8. Install the four radiator shroud fasteners.





9. Install the four fan nuts (1).
^ Tighten the fan nuts to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).
10. Adjust the generator drive belt tension. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.





11. Install the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing.
12. Refill the cooling system as necessary. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
