Lubricant Level Check.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front differential carrier shield, if equipped. Refer to Shield Replacement.





3. Remove the front axle filler plug from the front axle housing.
4. Inspect the oil level. The oil level should be even with the bottom of the front axle housing oil filler plug hole. If the oil level is low and no oil leaks exist, add oil using 80W-90 GL5 lubricant GM P/N 1052271, or equivalent. Refer to Lubrication Specifications.
5. Install the filler plug. Refer to Lubricant Change.
6. Install the front differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement.
7. Lower the vehicle.
