Liftgate Latch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the trim panel.




2. Remove the latch assembly cover(1) bolts(2).
3. Remove the latch assembly seal(5).
4. Remove the lock rods from the lock assembly.
Mark the location of the latch assembly on the liftgate.
5. Remove the latch assembly(4) bolts(3).
6. Remove the latch assembly(4) from the liftgate.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the latch assembly(4) and the seal(5) to the liftgate.
Align the assembly to the marks on the liftgate inner panel.
2. Install the lock rods to the latch assembly(4).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the latch assembly bolts(3).

Tighten the latch assembly bolts(3) to the liftgate to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

4. Install the latch assembly cover(1).
The cover must be installed with both gates closed for proper alignment.
5. Install the latch assembly cover bolts(2) to the liftgate.

Tighten the cover bolts to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

6. Install the trim panel.
