Spring Hanger Replacement (Rear Hanger-Tandem Axle)
Removal Procedure
1. Set the parking brake.
2. Block the front wheels.
3. Support the frame using a suitable lifting device.
4. Remove the rear dual wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Single Front/Rear) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Single Front/Rear)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Dual) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Dual)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Single Front/Rear) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Single Front/Rear)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Dual) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Dual).
5. Remove the following components:
* The rebound bolt nut
* The washer
* The rebound bolt (6)
6. Raise the frame (1) until the hanger clears the spring.
7. Remove the following components:
* The nuts
* The washers
* The bolts
* The hanger
8. Remove the hanger to crossmember spacer(s) (4), if used.
9. Remove the web spacer (2) (if used). The web spacer is used instead of the frame reinforcement.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the frame web spacer (2) (if used).
2. Install the hanger to crossmember spacer(s) (4).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install the following components. Use the bolts with washers on the inside and the outside of the frame.
* The hanger
* The bolts
* The washers
* The nuts
Tighten the hanger nut to 155 Nm (115 lb ft).
4. Lower the frame (1) onto the spring assembly.
5. Install the following parts:
* The rebound bolt (6)
* The washer
* The nut
Tighten the rebound nut to 75 Nm (55 lb ft).
6. Install the dual wheel assembly, if removed. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Single Front/Rear) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Single Front/Rear)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Dual) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Dual)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Single Front/Rear) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Single Front/Rear)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Dual) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Dual).
7. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
