Lower Control Arm Bushings Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J21474-01 Control Arm Bushings Service Set
- J 22269-1 Tie Rod End Installer





1. Remove the lower control arm from the vehicle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement (RWD).
2. Install the lower control arm in a vise.
3. Remove the rear bushings.
3.1. Install J 22269-01 and 21474-8, 12, 13.
3.2. Tighten until the rear bushings becomes free.





4. Using a blunt chisel, drive the front bushings flare down flush with the rubber part of the bushings.
5. Prior to removing or unchallenging the front bushings, place a wedge or spacer between the control arm bushings housings. This keeps the control arm bushings housings from bending while removing or unchallenging the bushings.
6. Remove the front bushings.
6.1. Install J 21474-3, 4, 5, Tighten until the bushings is partially removed.
6.2. Then, reverse J-21474-6 and tighten until the front bushings becomes free.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

- J21474-01 Control Arm Bushings Service Set
- J22269-1 Tie Rod End Installer





1. Prior to removing or unchallenging the bushings, place a wedge or spacer between the control arm bushings housings. This keeps the control arm bushings housings from bending while removing or unchallenging the bushings.
2. Install the front bushings in the lower control arm.
3. Install J 21474-4, 5, The lip is on the outside of the control arm.
4. Tighten until the front bushings seats fully in the lower control arm. Remove the tools.





5. Install the rear bushings in the lower control arm.
5.1. Install J 22269-01 and 21474-2, The lip is on the outside of the control arm.
5.2. Tighten until the rear bushings seats fully in the lower control arm. Remove the tools.
6. Remove the lower control arm from the vise.
7. Install the lower control arm to the vehicle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement (RWD).
