Power Window Motor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the power window regulator.
2. Drill out the rivets attaching the to power window regulator to door.
3. Remove the power window regulator from the lower run channel.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the power window regulator, if equipped.
5. Remove the power window regulator from the vehicle.

CAUTION: The sector gear must be locked in place once the regulator is removed from the door. The regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and can cause personal injury if the motor is removed without locking the sector gear in position.

6. Install a self-tapping, pan head sheet metal screw through the sector gear and the backing plate at the hole provided. This will lock the sector gear into position.
7. Drill out the rivets (2) attaching the power window motor to window regulator.
8. Remove the power window motor from the window regulator (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the power window motor to the window regulator (3).

CAUTION: The sector gear must be locked in place once the regulator is removed from the door. The regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and can cause personal injury if the motor is removed without locking the sector gear in position.

2. Install the rivets (2) attaching the power window motor to window regulator.
3. Remove the self-tapping, pan head sheet metal screw through the sector gear and the backing plate hole.
4. Install the power window regulator to the vehicle.
5. Connect the wiring harness to the power window regulator, it equipped.
6. Install the power window regulator from the lower run channel.
7. Install the rivets attaching the power window regulator to door.
8. Install the power window regulator.
